Paul Daley

Managing Partner

Paul is the Founder and Managing Partner of Oconic. With over 20 years experience in HR Technology, RPO and the Human Capital Management Industry, Paul has has gathered a wealth of experience growing businesses across the globe at HP, Kornferry and Cielo.

As a member of the founding team and SVP at Cielo, he was instrumental in scaling the business from 30 employees to over 4000, serving customers in over 100 countries.

His roles have spanned commercial leadership, revenue growth and most recently corporate development and M&A.

In addition, Paul has been an active Angel Investor, Advisor and Board member to HR Tech businesses for over 13 years.

James Saunders

Partner

James is a forward-thinking UK-based Entrepreneur and CEO with a 20 year history of founding, acquiring, and exiting highly profitable SaaS and Technology companies in the HR and recruitment space.  

James’ first exit was in 2005 aged 29 when he sold his recruitment marketing agency to Silicon Valley Group.   Subsequent to that he acquired a company and pivoted it towards profitability and more recently founded career site technology specialist Attrax which was sold to San Francisco based ATS scale-up, SmartRecruiters in January 2022.  

James is now undertaking a portfolio career as an angel investor to technology start-ups whilst also providing coaching and advisory support to the C-suite of HR technology and recruitment technology scale-ups.

Jens Bender

Partner

Based in Germany, Jens is an advisor for Go-To-Market, Product Strategy & Execution to HR Tech investors and their portfolio companies as well as leadership teams of HRTech scale-ups, grown-ups and start-ups.

Previously, Jens was Managing Director for market-orientated activities at Haufe-Umantis, the leading vendor for applicant tracking and employee management solutions in the German-speaking market. There, Jens led all market-oriented and product activities as Managing Director of the business.

Prior to that, Jens was the Co-Founder & Managing Director at PeoplePath, scaling it from a student start-up into the leading global vendor for corporate alumni and talent relationship management solutions with top clients such as SAP, Accenture and Allen&Overy.

Simon Childs

Partner

Simon has spent the past 25 years in the Asian recruitment and staffing industry. He co-founded and then sold a leading executive search business in Japan to Recruit Holdings, Asia's largest HR services group.

This acquisition marked Recruit's first domestic recruitment venture in their 50-year history, providing them a platform to further develop executive search in Japan's domestic markets, as well as to expand their recruiting services across Asia. Simon initiated several transactions across Asia for Recruit Holdings' International Recruitment Business division under the RGF brand.

Since leaving Recruit Holdings in 2020, Simon has advised on several buy and sell-side transactions. He is a Regional Advisor to James Caan’s Recruitment Entrepreneur, responsible for developing the platform in Asia.
